Privacy policy
This page explains what we collect when you use this website or send us an enquiry, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written in plain language rather than legal boilerplate, because a policy nobody reads protects nobody.
This is a working draft written for a Pune ecommerce development studio, not legal advice. Indian data protection obligations depend on your entity, what you actually collect and where it is stored. Ask a lawyer to review it and confirm the grievance officer details before this page goes live.
What we collect
Only what you give us, plus standard website analytics. We do not buy contact lists, and we do not scrape data about you from anywhere else.
-
What you type into a form
Your name, phone number, email address, business name and whatever you write in the message field. On some pages we also ask about your platform, catalogue size or the systems you use, so we can answer usefully rather than generically.
-
What you send another way
Messages you send on WhatsApp, by email, or say on a call. If you send us a product spreadsheet or a file during scoping, we hold that too and treat it as confidential.
-
Standard website analytics
Pages visited, roughly where you came from, device and browser type, and approximate location at city level. This is aggregate traffic data. We are not trying to identify you personally from it.
-
What we do not collect
We take no payments through this website, so no card or bank details pass through it. We do not ask for Aadhaar, PAN or any identity document to make an enquiry. We do not collect anything from children, because this is a business services site.
Why we collect it
Four reasons, and that is the complete list.
The main one. You asked a question and we need a way to answer it.
Catalogue size, platform and integrations tell us what a project involves before we price it.
Once you are a client, we hold what the project needs and nothing beyond it.
Analytics show which pages are useful and which are ignored, so we can fix the latter.
What we will not do: sell your details, rent them, or pass them to anyone marketing to you. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to a newsletter. If we ever start one, it will be something you opt into deliberately.
Who else sees it
We use ordinary business tools, which means a small number of service providers process data on our behalf. They are not allowed to use it for their own purposes.
- Email and hosting providers
Your enquiry arrives as an email and is stored there. Standard business email and web hosting services.
- Our form provider
What you type into a form is passed to Formspree, the service that delivers it to us and keeps a copy in our account. Their servers are outside India. If you would rather not use the form, call or WhatsApp us instead — the number is on the contact page.
- Analytics providers
Aggregate traffic measurement. You can block these with browser settings or an extension, and the site will still work normally.
- The map on our contact page
That page embeds Google Maps, which means Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies if you scroll far enough to load it. It is the only embedded third-party content on this site, and nothing loads until you reach it.
- WhatsApp
If you message us there, that conversation is also governed by WhatsApp's own privacy terms, which are outside our control.
- Legal obligations
If a law or a valid legal order requires disclosure, we comply. We will tell you where we are permitted to.
Client project data
This section matters more than the rest, because building and maintaining a store means we sometimes have access to your customers' data as well as your own.
Where we access your store admin, we act only on your instructions. We do not extract customer lists, we do not use your data for anything of our own, and we do not retain copies beyond what a project or a backup requires.
We ask for the minimum access needed to do the work, in accounts registered to your business. You can remove that access at any time, and we ask you to remove it when a project ends if we are not on a support plan.
Maintenance work involves backups and staging environments, which contain real data. These are access controlled, and removed on request when we stop working together.
Your pricing rules, supplier terms, sales figures and anything else you show us during scoping stay confidential. We are happy to sign an NDA before you describe a project, and we will not name you as a client publicly without written permission.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that go nowhere are cleared periodically. Client records are kept as long as our business relationship and Indian accounting and tax requirements need, then removed.
Kept while a conversation is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you come back. Cleared periodically after that.
Contracts, invoices and project documentation are retained for as long as accounting and tax obligations require.
Held during the engagement and for an agreed handover window. Removed on request once that has passed.
Your rights
Email or call us and we will act on any of these. No form to fill in, and no charge.
- Ask what we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything wrong
- Ask us to delete it, where we are not legally required to keep it
- Withdraw consent to being contacted
- Raise a complaint about how we have handled your data
We will respond within a reasonable period, and in practice usually within a few working days. If we cannot do what you have asked, we will explain why rather than ignore it.
Security, and its limits
This website runs over HTTPS. Access to enquiries and client systems is limited to people who need it, protected by strong authentication, and reviewed when someone leaves.
The honest limit, which most privacy policies avoid saying: no system is completely secure. We take reasonable measures and we would tell you promptly if something went wrong that affected your data. Anyone promising absolute security is overstating what is possible.
Contact and complaints
For anything about this policy, your data, or a complaint, contact us directly. A real person reads these.
Webtide Technologies LLP
Shaniwar Peth, Pune, Maharashtra
We answer these ourselves rather than routing them through a ticket queue, and aim to reply within one working day.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes affecting existing clients will be told to you directly rather than quietly published.
