WooCommerce development in Pune
WordPress stores built the disciplined way: a custom theme instead of a bloated multipurpose one, plugins only where they genuinely earn their place, and hosting chosen for your real traffic.
The trade is simple. You get full ownership and flexibility, and in return somebody has to own updates, backups and speed. We will be straight with you about which of those you are signing up for.
We build on Shopify and custom too, so we have no reason to talk you into WordPress if it is the wrong fit.
- A custom theme, not a marketplace themeOnly the code your store actually needs
- Custom fields, roles and pricing logicWhere WordPress genuinely beats a hosted platform
- Indian payments, COD and shippingRazorpay, UPI, Shiprocket, GST invoices
- Speed work as part of the buildCaching, images, queries, and a plugin audit
- Backups, security and a handover planDecided before launch, not after the first problem
Four situations where this is the right call
And one where it is not. The last block is the one worth reading twice.
Ownership matters to you
You want the files, the database and the hosting in your name, with no monthly platform fee and no risk of terms changing.
Content is part of how you sell
Buying guides, technical articles and category explainers sit alongside products, on the CMS that does this better than anything else.
You need rules a theme cannot express
Customer-group pricing, custom product fields, role-based access, unusual shipping logic. All reachable without leaving the platform.
Recurring cost matters more than build cost
Over three years, no platform subscription and a short plugin list can beat a hosted store, provided the maintenance is genuinely handled.
When we will steer you to Shopify instead
If nobody on your side will own updates, backups and hosting decisions, WooCommerce becomes a liability within a year. A managed platform is the honest answer, and we will say so.
Nearly every slow WooCommerce store has the same cause
Plugins are how WordPress gets flexible and how it gets slow. Drag the slider to see what happens to a store as the list grows, and what we do differently.
At this level plugins conflict with each other, updates get postponed because something always breaks, and nobody remembers what half of them do.
The usual symptom is a checkout that fails for some customers and nobody can reproduce it. An audit almost always pays for itself here.
ILLUSTRATIVE — plugin quality matters as much as count. One badly written plugin can outweigh ten good ones, which is why we audit rather than just count.
Six pieces of a WooCommerce project
The first three are in every build. The last three depend on what your business actually does.
Custom theme development
Built for your store rather than adapted from a theme that also does restaurants and gyms.
- Designed mobile first, reviewed before build
- Only the CSS and JavaScript you use
- Block editor patterns your team can reuse
- No page builder unless you ask for one
Catalogue and product data
Attributes and taxonomies set up properly, because this is what makes filters and search work later.
- Variable products and attribute structure
- Bulk import with a checked sample
- Filters that do not melt the database
- HSN codes, weights and dimensions
Speed and hosting
On WooCommerce, hosting quality is a design decision. Cheap shared hosting undoes good code.
- Hosting sized for your real traffic
- Page and object caching configured
- Image compression and modern formats
- Core Web Vitals measured, not assumed
Custom plugin work
When the requirement is genuinely yours, a small purpose-built plugin beats a large general one.
- Customer-group and role-based pricing
- Custom shipping or delivery-slot rules
- Product configurators and calculators
- Written to survive WordPress updates
Indian integrations
The pieces a default WooCommerce install does not have, wired in and tested with real orders.
- Razorpay, Cashfree, PayU and UPI
- COD limited by pin code or order value
- Shiprocket, Delhivery, label printing
- GST invoices and Tally or Zoho sync
Security and backups
WordPress is the most attacked platform on the web because it is the most used. Plan accordingly.
- Automated offsite backups you can restore
- Hardened logins and limited admin access
- Staging site for testing updates
- A named owner for update day
Ownership is real, and so is the responsibility
Agencies that only build WordPress will not tell you the second half. Here it is, so you can decide with the full picture.
What you gain
You pay for hosting and any premium plugins. Nothing goes to WooCommerce itself, and nobody takes a cut of your orders.
Every part of the checkout, the pricing and the data model can be changed, because you have the source code.
Guides, comparisons and category content on the CMS built for publishing, feeding links straight into product pages.
Any competent WordPress developer can pick it up. You are not tied to us or to any platform vendor.
What you take on
WordPress, WooCommerce and every plugin release updates. Tested on staging, or one day your checkout breaks quietly.
The most used platform on the web is also the most attacked. Backups, hardening and monitoring are not optional extras.
A fast store at launch drifts. Every plugin added later, and every unoptimised image, takes a little back.
The cheapest shared plan will undo good engineering. We will tell you what your traffic actually needs.
This is why we offer a maintenance plan and why we will tell you if you do not need one. On WooCommerce it is closer to essential than optional. Compare the platforms →
Half our WooCommerce work is fixing someone else's
If any of these sound familiar, an audit is the right first step. It is a fixed piece of work and you get the findings whether or not you hire us for the repair.
The site takes eight seconds to load
Usually a page builder, thirty plugins and unoptimised images on shared hosting. All four are fixable.
The developer stopped replying
We take over stores regularly. First job is recovering access to hosting, domain and the admin.
An update broke the checkout
The symptom of no staging site. We stabilise first, then put a proper update process in place.
The site got hacked or flagged
Clean-up, then close the hole that let it in. Almost always an outdated plugin or a reused password.
Nobody in-house can edit anything
A theme so customised that a text change needs a developer. We rebuild the editing experience around your team.
Traffic fell after a redesign
Usually URLs changed without redirects. Recoverable, and the sooner it is caught the better.
What you actually receive at handover
On WooCommerce this list matters more than on any other platform, because you are taking on real responsibility along with real ownership.
Files, database and repository
A complete export plus the code repository. Everything needed to move the site anywhere, held by you.
Hosting and domain in your name
Registered to your business, with the credentials. We are a user on your account, never the owner.
The custom theme, documented
What each template does and where to change it, so the next developer is not reverse engineering our work.
Plugin list with reasons and costs
Every plugin, why it is there, what it costs annually and what breaks if you remove it.
Staging site and update process
Somewhere to test an update before it reaches customers, and a written routine for update day.
Backups that have been restored once
An untested backup is a guess. We restore one before handover so you know the process works.
This is also the honest moment to decide about maintenance. If nobody in-house will own update day, say so now rather than discovering it after a plugin update breaks the checkout.
WooCommerce questions we get first
Ask anything else on WhatsApp. A short question gets a short answer, not a sales call.
Is WooCommerce actually free?
The plugin is free and there is no platform subscription. You still pay for hosting, a domain, any premium plugins, your payment gateway percentage and maintenance if you take it. That total is usually lower than a hosted platform once the store is stable, but it is not zero and we list every line in the quote.
Is WooCommerce slow?
WooCommerce is not slow. Badly built WooCommerce stores are slow, and there are a lot of them. A multipurpose theme, a page builder, thirty plugins and the cheapest shared hosting will produce an eight second load on any platform. A custom theme, a short plugin list, proper caching and hosting sized for your traffic produces a fast store. It is a discipline question, not a platform one.
Do we need a maintenance plan?
Someone needs to own updates, backups and security. If you have a capable person in-house we will hand over cleanly, document everything and stay available for project work. If you do not, a plan is the sensible choice, and we would rather say that plainly than watch a good store decay over eighteen months.
Can WooCommerce handle a few thousand products?
Yes, with the right foundations. Large catalogues need attention to attribute structure, filtered navigation, database indexes and hosting with real resources. The problems people blame on WooCommerce at scale are usually a default filter plugin running expensive queries on every page load. We plan for the catalogue size from the start rather than discovering it later.
Should we use a page builder?
Our default is no. Page builders add weight to every page and lock your content into their markup, which makes leaving painful. We build editable sections with the block editor instead, so your team can still change layouts without a developer. If you already use a builder and your team is fluent in it, we will work with it rather than force a migration.
Can you move us from Shopify to WooCommerce?
Yes. Products, customers and order history move across, and every old URL gets mapped to its new one so your rankings survive. Worth asking first why you are moving. If it is monthly cost, we will do the three-year sum with you honestly, because hosting plus maintenance is not free either. If it is a workflow the platform will not allow, that is a much stronger reason.
Tell us what you sell and who will run it
That second answer decides whether WooCommerce is right for you. If it is not, we will tell you rather than quote for it.
